Ben Sheets hurled a fine complete game shutout and Lou Merloni jacked one out
of the ballyard and had 5 RBI as the Tampico Stogies defeated the Lewisville
Fire Ants 7 to 0 at the ballpark.
Merloni had a big day at the plate. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st
of the season) in the 4th inning and laced a one-base hit bringing in two
baserunners in the 5th inning. Tampico finished with 8 hits in the victory.
Sheets(9-8) went the distance for the shutout. Mark Buehrle(6-8) took the
loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 7 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
